Shake It Off – Taylor Swift

Shake It Off – Taylor Swift

Before I say anything else, have a look at how many views this song has on YouTube. This is where more modern music is on a different planet to most of my taste in songs. You can't argue with the figures.

I've spoken of Taylor Swift being discovered at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville in a previous post, she started out a Country Starlet. Some of the lyrics she wrote as a teenager are simple brilliant, summing up perfectly the troubled and complicated life of someone that age. I've also been on a number of webinar courses with her original manager Rick Barker, who has explained how Taylor was one of the first artists to use social media to gain a fan base. She totally interacted with her fans, making them part of her journey to becoming a huge star. Again you would have to had been an age where you grew up with social media as part of your life to be able to get a grip of all the angles of it.

Then Taylor went 'Pop' and opened up her music to the entire world, no one can say she doesn't produce quality banging tunes. Each one more successful than the next one, she's done some amazing duets and even having Kanye West give her a hard time at the MTV Video awards helped make her more popular than ever.

But as always comes back to the music for me, I bought her album 'Red' and loved every track. But I selected this song the more recent 'Shake It Off' today as it's totally upbeat and has a great message behind it. As you will see from my favourite lyric below, the words reference having music in your head. My whole day has a soundtrack all of it's own never mind what music I'm playing at the time, so can totally relate to that. As Taylor grows up so does her music, think she is one of the artists that will be around her whole life.

The picture below is one of the outfits from the video, I saw this at The Country Music Hall of Fame on my trip to Nashville in 2015.

Favourite lyric : But I keep cruising, can't stop, won't stop moving
/ It's like I got this music in my mind, sayin' it's gonna be alright
