Get Out Of Your Lazy Bed – Matt Bianco
Get Out Of Your Lazy Bed – Matt Bianco
I got asked the other day had I heard of an artist called Mac Demarco, apparently he's very famous but afraid I hadn’t come across him. As it always seems as soon as you get to a certain age you loose the will to follow the latest musical offerings. My current music tastes seem to be stuck on Country.
But my dyslexic brain name transformed Mac's name into reminding me of this guy, Matt Bianco, a 80s artist who had some very quirky hits. This one being pretty out there, it’s not exactly complicated and the backing track sounds like on of those example tunes you used to get one early home keyboards. But it’s catchy as anything and grabs your ears. I think this song shows why I struggled with the era, there were some amazing songs in the 80s as with all decades. Then there were the rest, silly pop songs that you should turn off but they are so much fun and dance-able you just can’t help but love them.
Then it seems the artists that were considered as silly pop in their heyday then grow some credibility in their later careers, often still turning out great music but it never makes the main stream, so maybe Matt and Mac aren't that different, it's just what sort of music people can be bothered to go and find.
The theme of the song is so universal, especially lately it’s often hard to get out of that lazy bed.
Favourite lyric : You can sleep on the floor / 'cause I'm knocking you out.
